Pipe Freezing
Pipe freezing is a method use to isolate the fluids when isolation valve are not available or valve is not working, Liquid Nitrogen is use to create a solid ice plug to isolate the fluid for performing repair works or maintenance.
General requirement for a pipe freezing
- Pipe condition must be fairly good condition for the application.
- Flow must not be present.
- Pipe must be fully fill with fluids
Advantages of Pipe freezing:
- No Shutdown of the main system.
- No excessive draining off of fluids.
- No or limited alteration of piping works
- No refill of fluids after completion of works.
Application of Pipe Freezing:
Pipe freezing can be done in commercial and industrial application such as:
- Replacement of valves
- Maintenance of system without shutting down
- Modification and alteration of system.
